Challenge and Paradox set
Innovating has 4 Challenges, each hinging on effectively dealing with a paradox, that determines innovation hit rate.
There are 8 Action Areas in the TEP D8 Infinity Process, 2 associated with each Challenge.
TEP has created a tool kit of practices, methodologies, and processes for each action area that supports resolving the paradox associated with each Innovating Challenge.
Context
An innovation is a new and better product, service, and process that replaces an existing product, service, and process. It needs to benefit both the customer and supplier simultaneously. Innovation is a source of better user experiences and business growth.
Most businesses invest in innovating activities hoping to create innovations. But, too often, innovating does not yield innovation.
We created The Enginnova Project (TEP) to solve this problem.
The TEP vision is to create an innovating practice where innovations are the norm rather than the exception.
Our mission is to substantially raise the hit rate of innovations resulting from innovating activities.
There are 4 innovating challenges, each hinging on effectively dealing with a paradox. Collectively they determine innovation hit rate.
1. The Development Challenge deals with the Invention / Delivery paradox;
2. The Growth Challenge deals with the Current Threat / Future Opportunity paradox;
3. The Idea Challenge deals with the Trouble / Novelty paradox;
4. The Rate of Change Challenge deals with the Momentum / Friction paradox.
High Hit Rate Innovation requires resolving each paradox as a duality, rather than a singularity, to overcome the challenges.
